Manchester United have reportedly opened talks with Barcelona over the potential transfer of out of favour midfielder Ivan Rakitic.
The 31-year-old has featured for just 186 minutes and started only once this season for Barca.
United were interested in signing Rakitic over the summer, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was unable to add to his midfield ranks before the end of the transfer window.
The Red Devils have reportedly again enquired about Rakitic and are opening initial negotiations with Barca, reports Sport.
It is reported that Barcelona are now willing to listen to offers over £34million for the Croatian international.
Rakitic admitted earlier this week that he could quit the Nou Camp in search of more first-team action.
“It’s tough because I want to play and not just be part of the team,” he said.
“I will do everything possible to change my situation.”
According to the same report, Italian giants Inter Milan have also contacted Barca regarding a potential move for Rakitic, who has two years left on his current contract.
Man Utd are also said to have reached a verbal agreement with Juventus over the transfer of Mario Mandzukic in January.
