Harry Maguire ‘has been told he can expect a five-year deal worth £350,000 a week’ at Manchester United, according to a report in The Sun.
The Old Trafford club is reportedly ready to meet Leicester City’s £80m valuation of the England defender, with Maguire thought to be keen to move.
Reports suggest that he would prefer a move to Manchester City which would bring Champions League football and likely trophies, but it is United who will pay a world record fee for a defender.
According to The Sun: ‘Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman will stop at nothing to land the England centre-back – who has been told he can expect a five-year deal worth £350,000-a-week.’
That salary would instantly make Maguire one of English football’s highest earners and would place him behind only Alexis Sanchez at Manchester United.
There is some suggestion that United could offer one of their unwanted centre-backs as part of the deal, but that did not work with West Ham and a reported move for Issa Diop.
