Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial all scored in United’s 5-2 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

Greenwood, for whom Solskjaer had said “the sky is the limit” on Friday, particularly caught the eye with his brace – with the goals scored with either foot.

Speaking after Saturday’s game, the United boss was full of praise for the 18-year-old and his fellow attackers, with Rashford and Martial reaching 20 goals for the season each with their strikes.

“[I’m] very, very happy with today, with the energy in the team and the goals we scored,” Solskjaer told BT Sport.

“I think that was a game for the fans. That is definitely one the Stretford end would have enjoyed.”

On the relationship between his attackers, Solskjaer said: “They are on the same team and working towards one common goal.

“That is one of the positive things about the forwards they are good friends and keep challenging each other.”

And, when pressed on Greenwood – who took his tally to 15 goals in his debut season – Solskjaer reiterated his belief that the Englishman has impressive potential.

“He is a fantastic goalscorer, I’ve said it so many times. He chose the goals today, they were very important moments for us,” Solskjaer added.

“You know he’s got a left foot to come inside but I think people will have to think about the outside as well because he can score with his right.

“He is a very, very talented boy and we will nurture him and manage him as best we can and give him more and more minutes.”

United return to action on Thursday when they travel to face Aston Villa, who have to play Liverpool first.
