Luke Shaw thinks Old Trafford is lacking a “fear factor” after Manchester United’s 1-0 victory over Young Boys on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils put in a below-par performance and had a brilliant save from David de Gea and Marouane Fellaini’s late goal to thank for the three points in Group H.
The result sees them through to the knockout stages of the Champions League with a match to spare but with only one goal scored in their three home matches in the competition.
And Shaw thinks they need to recapture the fear factor shown in the days under Sir Alex Ferguson where teams used to dread coming to Old Trafford.
“Off the back of the result on the weekend, I think it was always going to be tougher than we expected,” Shaw told beIN Sports.
“Some teams used to fear Old Trafford but I think sometimes now people come in and think they can get results.
“Most importantly, that’s what we have got to change as a team and as a club — to bring that fear factor back to an Old Trafford that not many fear at the moment.”
