Manchester United are reportedly still hopeful that Luke Shaw will become their long-term left-back.
The £27m signing has endured four difficult years at United and started just eight Premier League games last season.
He was expected to be replaced this summer by Alex Sandro or Danny Rose but both of those targets would cost £50m-plus and would never be worth anywhere close to that fee again.
United have apparently decided not to strengthen at left-back this summer, having decided that bringing in Diogo Dalot as cover for Antonio Valencia was more important.
Shaw and Young will once again compete for the United left-back slot, with the Manchester Evening News claiming that they could sign either Ryan Sessegnon or Kieran Tierney next summer.
