Win A Bottle Of Johnnie Walker Black Label

In 1819 John Walker’s father had passed away. It was a tough time for a humble farm lad, but with a glint in his eye and fire in his belly he went on to make his father proud and create a living for himself. Within the year, the family farm was sold and John used the money to set up his own grocers.

With a keen eye for business and being centred in the thriving local town of Kilmarnock, he began to utilise his genius for whisky and blending single malts that were stocked in his shop. In those days, most grocers stocked a line of single malts which were never all that consistent. Although blending was something very rare for the time, it proved an extremely popular addition to his inventory.

When John passed away in 1857, he left his very healthy and prosperous business to his son Alexander. By this time, Britain was the pulsing heart of the Industrial Revolution and in Kilmarnock, the railway had arrived carrying goods to the ships that had regular routes to the four corners of the world. So, in 1867 Alexander launched Johnnie Walker’s first commercial blend, “Old Highland Whisky”, which was carried by the ships making his unique blend available across the globe.

In 1909, “Extra Special Old Highland Whisky” was renamed Johnnie Walker Black Label and is now known as a true icon and recognised as the benchmark for all other deluxe brands. Created using only whiskies aged for a minimum of twelve years, it brings the flavours from the four corners of Scotland to create a unique tasting experience. It is rich, complex and incredibly well balanced in flavour. Full of dark fruits, sweet vanilla and a signature smooth finish which is layered with rich smoke, pea and malt, it creates an impressive whisky to share on any occasion.

By 1920, Johnnie Walker was in 120 countries and as the centuries progressed, it has become part of a global culture: immortalised by songwriters and filmmakers, idolised by socialites and movie stars, enjoyed by statesmen and walking shoulder-to-shoulder with the great sportsmen and women of the age.

You can enjoy Johnnie Walker Black Label in any way you like – on its own, with a dash of water or alongside your favourite mixer. Perfect for if you’re entertaining at home with friends or on a memorable night out.
